Windows Insider 22567
A new Week a new Windows Build
My PC just came up from installing 22567 and I’m going through the What’s new? I do dig the new focus on renewable energy, respectively think that correlating current power grid situation and electricity origin to Windows Update installation scheduling is a fabulous idea! π
- The feature is only enabled when plugged-in and regional carbon intensity data is available from the current partners:
Link: electricityMap, for example Austria.
Link: WattTime, which doesn’t seem to be available in Europe
I think this is a good contemporary thought and goes in the right direction, well done guys! π

Your personal M365 subscription is now better visible and manageable within Settings-> Account, that’s cool!
-
Smart App Control! (SAC) This sounds very interesting, but is regrettably only available on PCs which performed a clean install from the most recent build, which will not be available as an ISO within the next couple of weeks, so I guess that makes it a clean install from a regular version and then going for the Dev Channel..
..as I just reinstalled my PC I will give it a try in a VM.
However the feature sounds promising and I’m looking forward to see it in action, it basically blocks unrusted or potentially dangerous applications after fist going through an evaluation period, if it recognizes it will “getting too much in your way” it will disable after evaluation, otherwise enable at the end of it.

Visual improvement, the “Open with” dialogue follows the general Windows 11 design principles. I like this as I use it more often than I would initially think.
-
Phone Linking for OOBE, regrettably nothing I can try, as only for Android phones..(yeah you could bring back a Windows Phone π)
-
Voice Typing improvements: I didn’t give that one a try, maybe because I disabled the Microphone access as Cortana was activated while watching Netflix on the Laptop and I found that disturbing, I guess it’s a hard life to be a digital personal assistant.
-
Task Manager! I did not yet give my full attention and appreciaction to the new design and beauty of the Task Manager, for me it feels more “sorted & cleaner”, very nice.
-
Negative: regrettably the “Start Button Bug” is still present, so right clicking on Start crashes Explorer.exe (wich sometimes came in even handy..)
Bye ‘till next time!
